SHAA |
Our Mission: |
The formation of a new student organization on campus has occurred. We would like to introduce this new organization to the public. We are proud to present the Sam Houston Atheist Alliance. SHAA is a social organization designed to give a forum for the numerous atheist and agnostic students to gather on campus. We hope to promote socialization and pride amongst the atheist community and foster a better understanding between them and their other social doctrine counterparts. Students of the organization will be able to combine their talents to support our community better as a whole through this organization then they could as an individual. As an organization SHAA will promote atheism through open discussion and education. Gatherings will discuss issues important to the atheist community, including what may be done to effect these topics. As a group we would like to make it clear that we are not a religious organization. Members have a highly varied view on life sharing only a single aspect, that of atheism. While being atheist is not a requirement for membership to SHAA due to the intent of this organization we ask that individuals who wish to discuss atheism with the group come only to open forums scheduled and not to regular meetings. SHAA will hold open public discussions with any group who wishes to have one in an attempt to promote better public understanding and relations with atheists. We hope that Sam Houston State University welcome SHAA into its community and takes advantage of what we have to offer. Sincerely, Co Founding Member Brian C. Louden |
